How has the first month of 2016 been for you? For most of us it’s about planning for the year ahead: all the work that needs to be done and the races that need to be raced. Can we do this year better than the last?
What’s so amazing about triathlon as a sport is that there’s room for everyone in it to find happiness in growth — from the weekend warrior who just wants to lose a few pounds or get healthier, to the professional triathlete looking for the last 1% gain to propel them to the top of the heap. And we all can draw inspiration from both ends of the spectrum.
While I’ve gravitated in the last few years toward doing triathlon for fitness, that doesn’t make me any less keen on seeing and appreciating what’s been happening in this sport, and hopefully helping it continue to grow.
I’m in Sydney this week with my family as we send our eldest daughter off on her first year of boarding school. It feels like just yesterday she was a baby traveling with me and Emma on the world triathlon circuit! My Tahlia has always been her own person and she makes me so proud as she grows up and forges her own path.
It is my desire that we all find where we can grow in the next year, in sport and beyond.
